The BhagavadGita literally means “Song of the Lord”. It is the philosophical kernel of the great epic, Mahabharata. The entire Gita, of 18 Lectures and 701 verses, is sandwiched between two words, ‘Dharma’ and ‘Mama’. Mama = My, Dharma = Essential Nature. Therefore “Mama Dharma” = My Essential Nature.

The purpose of human life is to realise one’s essential nature, the Supreme Self within. This is the theme of the Bhagavad Gita.
